DumpScout Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information DumpScout uses across the website, mobile app, support inbox, and station-reporting tools.

Last updated: March 9, 2026

What we collect

DumpScout may process your location, issue reports, optional contact details, device and app diagnostics, and product-usage events.

We do not require a user account to browse the app, and we do not sell personal data.

Location data

If you allow location access in the mobile app, DumpScout uses your device location to find nearby dump stations and improve map results.

Location access is optional. If you deny it, the app still opens and can be browsed manually, but nearby search and recentering are limited.

Issue reports and support messages

If you submit a station issue report, we store the report details, the station you referenced, and any optional email address you provide so we can review the correction.

If you contact us directly, we keep your message and contact details for support and follow-up.

Diagnostics and usage analytics

DumpScout records limited telemetry to understand app stability and feature usage. This may include screen views, station-detail views, app version, device platform, error diagnostics, and whether location-based search was used.

We use this information to debug crashes, monitor reliability, and improve search, station detail, and admin workflows.

Local device storage

The mobile app stores favorites, map preferences, cached station responses, and offline rollout preferences on your device so the app can reopen quickly and remain useful with weak connectivity.

These local settings stay on your device unless you submit them to us explicitly.

How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • return nearby dump station results and power map browsing
  • review corrections and improve station accuracy
  • diagnose errors, crashes, and performance problems
  • measure product usage and prioritize reliability work
  • respond to support requests and app-store review questions

Sharing and service providers

DumpScout relies on infrastructure providers such as Supabase for application data and APIs, Mapbox for maps, and Expo/EAS for mobile build and release tooling.

We may also use limited third-party search, verification, or analytics infrastructure to maintain station data quality and app reliability.

Retention

We keep operational data for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain station quality, comply with legal obligations, and investigate abuse or product issues.

Support and issue-report records may be retained so we can track recurring station corrections over time.

Your choices

You can deny location permission, avoid submitting optional email fields, and contact us to request help with a support or correction record.

If you want us to delete a support message or station issue report you previously sent, email hello@dumpscout.com with the subject line Data Deletion Request.

For privacy questions, email hello@dumpscout.com.
